Matcha No Bake Cheesecake with Pocky Granola

Image
Say that ten times fast. A rich, creamy matcha no bake cheesecake with a crust made out of Matcha Pocky granola is the dessert you need. Like, right now. Last week, I hosted a pop up night at The Kingston Social House , the place where I have been cheffing since last fall and hosting supperclubs and cooking classes for the last couple of years. It's like my home kitchen away from home but better, because my actual home kitchen is about 2 square feet. I decided on a Korean inspired comfort food menu consisting of a Kimchi Meatloaf Melt, Spicy Miso Soup with Korean rice cakes for the vegetarians and a variety of banchan style sides. Korean's aren't really known for their desserts so it took me longer than usual to come up with something until I bought a few packs of Matcha Pocky. If you aren't familiar with Pocky, you need to do something about that. Pocky are a biscuit stick with a coating of "cream" that is usually chocolate flavoured but th...

Boston Cream Pie's Sister Cake is Kyoto Cream Pie

Image
Did you know that Kyoto is a sister city to Boston? They became sister cities back in 1959 and, in fact, their gift of the Japan House to the Boston Children's Museum is thought to be the most expensive gift ever given to an American community from a foreign sister city. The two cities collaborate on various events throughout the year and are very tight.

Matcha Almond Smoothie Made With Almond breeze

I think I have shared the fact that we don't drink cow's milk on the blog before. I mean, we put a splash in our coffee and I bake with it and eat ice cream but to pouring a big glass of cold cow's milk is just never going to happen around here. Nobody is lactose intolerant or allergic, although I have been tempted to lie about that over the years. Back when people would get all up in my grill about not giving my toddler huge glasses of icy cold cow's milk because it was going to cause him to never grow, I wish I had a picture of my future 6' 15 year old to waggle in their faces. When The Kid was little, he would act like you were trying to kill him if you tried to give him a glass of milk. Because of this, we have depended on alternate forms of milk type drinks to make our morning smoothies, put on cereal etc and our favourite is almond milk.

Charcuterie, cheese and smoked mackerel pate at Delecq, a brand spanking new wine bar in The Beach I have been doing the week in yum for almost a year now - okay, I started doing it in July but it's almost a year so shut it. Anyway, over the year it has become more and more popular and I find that I spend as much time eating out, attending food type media events etc more and more. It almost feels like I spend as much time eating out and sharing that stuff as I do cooking and sharing recipes. It is time to freshen up what was originally just a little blather about what I ate that week to make it more useful for those of you who are reading. I am going to streamline my mini reviews, add in a little section where I alert you to any fun food events coming up and I am now going to share a new Instagram user and Pin Board of the week since I now follow so many people that it is becoming impossible to just choose one actual pin or photo. Okay, that said, let's see how m...
